Catching Fire: The Story of Anita Pallenberg
Built around the unpublished memoir found by her children following her death in 2017, this documentary on model and actress Anita Pallenberg seeks to dispel the commonly held notion of her as little more than a muse to successive members of The Rolling Stones. Emerging from a childhood under conservative parents traumatised by the effects of the Second World War, Pallenberg moved to America and quickly became a face on the New York art scene, friend to Beats and Pop artists alike. Though her affairs with Brian Jones, Keith Richards, and Mick Jagger made her notorious, this film, rich in thrilling archival footage of the various ‘60s scenes in which Pallenberg was enmeshed, gives long overdue credit to her contribution to the band’s music and her career as an actress, set to Scarlett Johansson’s readings of excerpts from Pallenberg’s memoir.
