He Dreams of Giants (2019)

  • Documentary
  • 1h 25m

For more than 30 years, legendary director Terry Gilliam (Brazil, The Fisher King, 12 Monkeys) struggled to bring his daring adaptation of Don Quixote to the screen. His previous attempt, starring Johnny Depp, was abandoned on account of catastrophes, both meteorological and personal, and was chronicled in Lost in La Mancha (2002), Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe’s revealing documentary. Gilliam never gave up and neither did the documentarians. He Dreams of Giants is an epic culmination of all of their efforts, and an intense meditation on the agony and ecstasy of making art.
