There's Something in the Barn

1h 40m Horror, Comedy 2023

The most wonderful time of the year has proven fertile ground for horror, from Black Christmas (Bob Clark, 1974) to the charming musical Anna And The Apocalypse (John McPhail, 2017). Within this subgenre can be found a number of films inspired by tales from European fairytales and myths, such as Krampus (Michael Dougherty, 2015) and Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (Jalmari Helander, 2010). In this horror comedy, with the emphasis on the latter, the Nordheim family, led by father Bill (Martin Starr), move from California to a remote cabin in Norway. Ignoring the warnings of locals, Bill manages to irritate and offend the local barn elf, who decides that the house isn’t big enough for both of them, and summons a like-minded group to assist in the violent removal of the Nordheims from the premises in this light-hearted and entertaining film.
