Timestalker

A prolific actor whose credits range from television appearances on Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace (2004) to Black Mirror episode Bandersnatch (2018) as well as multiple roles for the likes of Ben Wheatley and Edgar Wright, Alice Lowe made a striking directorial debut with 2016’s Prevenge. Timestalker, her sophomore effort, also sees her take the role of Agnes, a seventeenth-century spinster who falls in love at first sight with heretic Alex (Aneurin Barnard), who is bound for execution. Finding herself accidentally killed while trying to save him, Agnes is reincarnated, determined to find her love, only to find herself killed time and time again before she is noticed by the increasingly boorish Alex. Lowe and the cast, including fellow Wheatley alumna Kate Dickie and fellow Wright alumnus Nick Frost, have a lot of fun hopping between timeframes and genres in this unusual take on the rom-com.
