Claire's Knee

An inspiration to Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name (2017), the age difference between Jérôme (Jean-Claude Brialy) and the women by whom he is tempted to stray from fidelity to his fiancée certainly adds an extra layer of moral complexity when viewed through a modern lens, although the relationships are far less physical. First, he is encouraged by his novelist friend Aurora (Aurora Cornu) to pursue Laura (Béatrice Romand), the teenage daughter of an acquaintance, in the hopes of providing the writer with story ideas. His allegiance switches with the arrival of Claire (Laurence de Monaghan), Laura’s ex-step-sister.
