Actor Laure Calamy (Call My Agent!) reunites with director Caroline Vignal after the huge success in France of their previous collaboration, My Donkey, My Lover And I (Antoinette dans les Cévennes, 2020) in this effervescent comedy. Iris (Calamy) seemingly has it all, a successful career, well-adjusted teenage daughters, a stylish Parisian apartment, and a handsome husband, Stéphane (Vincent Elbaz). What _is _missing from her life is sex, the passion having drained so completely from her marriage that she now measures the length of their drought in years. Her osteopath’s suggestion of finding her pleasures elsewhere takes root, and Iris is soon downloading dating apps and having brief, non-committal flings. Focusing less on her infidelity than her newfound sexual liberation as she reaches middle age, her desires clashing with this domestic complacency, the film’s effervescence does not obscure its serious considerations.
