When his fiancée Carole (Mijanou Bardot, sister to Brigitte) leaves for the summer to work in London, Adrien (Patrick Bauchau) joins his friend Daniel (Daniel Pommereulle) at a house rented by a mutual friend on the Riviera. However, on his arrival, Daniel warns him that one of their friend’s lovers, Haydée, is also in residence and bringing home a different man every night. Despite their disapproval of her behaviour, both men are drawn to the younger woman, who ultimately forces each to confront his own flaws. Beautifully shot and performed, the film, Rohmer’s first in colour, is among his best.
