An Engineer Imagines
A cinematic homage to the life and ideas of Peter Rice, widely regarded as one of the most distinguished engineers of the late twentieth century. The film traces Rice’s extraordinary career from his Dundalk childhood to his work on the Sydney Opera House, the Pompidou Centre and the Lloyd’s Building to his untimely death in 1992.
Using 35mm time-lapse photography interwoven with reminiscences of colleagues, family and friends, Marcus Robinson celebrates the legacy of a man who pushed the boundaries of art and science to reach unimagined heights; a genius who has until now stood in the shadow of architectural icons.
