Juror #2
Appearing on many 2024 Top Film lists, this thrilling drama from actor/director Eastwood proves yet again that he’s not ready to hang up the reins. Staying behind the camera for this one, he brings his recognisable efficiency in storytelling to a courtroom drama, with Nicholas Hoult as a writer doing jury duty on a murder trial. Prosecutor Toni Collette thinks it is a clear-cut case, but doubt is cast, including by another juror – a former detective played by JK Simmons. It’s a well-told tale, with great performances which yield tension and suspense, leaving us wondering just what the veteran star might do next.
