Escape from the 21st Century

Li Yang’s solo feature debut, whose aesthetic is heavily influenced by classic video games such as_ Street Fighter II_, is a fast-paced and fun story of high school students Wang Chengyong (Zhuozhao Li), Wang Zha (Yichen Chen), and Paopao (Qixuan Kang). Despite being regular targets of their class bullies, they show courage when it comes to defending Wang Chengyong’s girlfriend, Yang Yi (Yanmanzi Zhu). On one such occasion, events backfire, and the three young men end up in a contaminated river, after which they are transported 20 years into the future every time they sneeze, from 1999 to 2019. Discovering that the reality of their futures is far from the one they hope for, they try to discover what went wrong and how to fix it, even as their future selves fend off a corporation hoping to exploit their ability.
