The Reel Art Collection

The Reel Art Collection includes a powerful array of long-form documentaries each focussing on an artistic theme. The films, made under the auspices of the innovative Arts Council scheme, are original, aesthetically-driven works which capture a range of artistic endeavours in Ireland and elsewhere over a ten-year period. Here, film artists celebrate and investigate the work of other artists in a variety of visually-engaging forms which include documentary profile, memoir, experimental essay and hybrid blend of fact and fiction. The directors, both new and established, share a passion for their subjects which they indulge with untrammelled artistic freedom in their exploration of art and architecture, theatre, science, cinema, poetry, dance, philosophy, photography and cartography.
