Until the End of the World (Director's Cut)
Bis ans Ende der Welt
The seed of Until The End Of The World was planted in Wenders’s head during a trip to Australia in the late 1970s. This sprawling (to say the least) sci-fi epic saw Wenders working with his biggest budget to date, an internationally recognised cast, and filming across 11 countries. The resulting film appeared in various truncated versions edited down from a rough cut reportedly some twenty hours long, with this version, released in 2015, now seen as definitive. Difficult to summarise succinctly, it is at heart Wenders’s most expansive exploration of the nature of human connection in a technological age.
