One Hundred and One Nights

Varda’s celebration of cinema’s first century begins with student Camille (Julie Gayet) receiving a lucrative offer to visit wheelchair-bound centenarian Simon Cinéma (Michel Piccoli) for 101 nights to discuss cinema. While she and boyfriend Mica (Mathieu Demy) concoct a scheme to steal Cinéma’s fortune to fund his film, hindrances and distractions appear in the form of Cinéma’s heir, his ex-wives, and star-studded list of visitors. Varda’s cast is the stuff of dreams: Marcello Mastroianni, Anouk Aimée, Fanny Ardant, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Sandrine Bonnaire, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Robert De Niro, Gérard Depardieu, Isabelle Adjani, Clint Eastwood, and Harrison Ford (an old friend of hers and Demy) are just some of those to appear in this cinephilic extravaganza.
